BH is not about highly competitive words by and large. It's about niche words but lots of pages for all the niches you can think of. Your site can be #1 or 2 for a word than only say 30 sites come up with. If you have tons of these sites and get 1 visitor a day to each it should be enough.
In WH, you cannot really choose as you only have so many sites you take care of. In BH, you go for whatever works and don't put all your eggs in one basket.
