A protocol to tranfer files betweens computers.
(FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol)
Sometimes people have trouble using FTP because of problems with firewalls. The web (HTTP) doesn't usually have these kinds of problems with firewalls.
My favorite ftp client from my tiny apps is leechftp.
