gist of it is to 'legitly' swap links with as many people as you can for a certain site, then after you have 1000 or so links, 301 that site to your other site (the 301 turns the once reciprocal links into one-ways)

ameliorations ::

only redirect the frontpage (the page with most links), making sure that there is enough links left on the other pages to keep partners happy
only redirect bots to the new site

another way ::

creating link pages like
http://www.mysite.tld/links/ http://www.mysite.tld/linkz/ http://www.mysite.tld/resources/
...etc, and then exlude these directories in robots.txt (to get one-way links).
