I don't know about you, but myself, I have an emotional memory attached to each piece of my clothing. You remember where you bought it, how you wear it, the days basking in the sunshine with it, or even a painful event while wearing it -- which might lead you to want to get rid of that piece.

I remember one shirt that I associated with one character I knew as a youth -- I couldn't ever bring myself to wear it and it sat in my closet and every time I looked at it I felt haunted. I finally threw it away and felt free as a bird.
